The decision to operate on another person is not one I take lightly. In 25 years of practice, one of the most important things I have learned is that the best operation is often the one not done. Many patients who come to me with concerns about piles, acidity, constipation or abdominal pain leave my clinic with a dietary plan and a follow-up appointment — not a surgical date.
When surgery is the right answer, I am committed to performing it with the least possible disruption to the patient's body and life. That is why I have devoted my career to minimally invasive techniques — smaller incisions, faster recovery, and the ability to return a patient to their family and workplace as quickly as possible.
I also believe strongly in transparency — in cost, in outcomes, and in what surgery can and cannot achieve. A patient who understands their condition and their options makes better decisions and recovers better. Every consultation I offer is a conversation, not a prescription.
The best operation is often the one not done. Surgery should be the considered answer to a clear question — not the default response to every complaint. Dr Samir Contractor
